Interesting clip from an old FB article

Well that explains why the AMC engine was such a resounding success and changed the thinking on two-stroke design, Or maybe not ? like all innovations there is usually a trade off somewhere with the AMC it was increased fuel comsumption and lack of support for the piston, personally i would have lived with a little four stroking for a few more MPG and a piston/port design that did not have a tendency to throw it's rings off ??
