New kickstart

Post  kerabo on Sat Jan 12, 2019 5:21 pm

I have a nice new large spline kickstart for sale. I was going to convert it but changed my mind. This was imported and I though I bad a deal but they hit me with import duties so it cost me almost twice the starting price.

Kick start

Post  piston 197 on Sat Jan 12, 2019 5:30 pm

Ken the spline will fit the twins, but the kickstart will not, the twin ones are straight without the crank at the bottom, this one will foul the casing and cause breakage ,
This is for the 4 speed gearbox fitted to later 9E/4 ( early ones are 5/8" spline) and A series 250cc engine 31A.32A.33A.34A,35A,36A,37A

Thanks John.

You mean it will hit where the gear indicator is on the casing?

Kickstart

It will not fit the twin with the casing intact, it will either break the casting where the gear indicator plate is situated when kicked over, or the casing will have to have a piece cut out of it before it will work, The spine is the correct size, but the twin has a Kickstart with a straighter shaft which just leans out at an angle without the swan neck which is required on the single cylinder one to miss the clutch adjuster.
