Engine Rebuild

Post  andysmith2510 on Thu Nov 29, 2018 9:20 pm

Hi All,

I am new to the owners club and am looking for help.
Does anybody know who could perform an engine rebuild on a Cruiser 89 250 2T twin at a reasonable cost.
The bike I have acquired has not run for 30 years so it's likely that all the seals (especially the centre crank shaft seal) will need replacing. If you are going to split the crank and replace the seals you may as well replace the bearings, etc. etc.

The bike turns over and all the gears can be selected.

If anybody can help I would be grateful.

Andy

2T rebuild

I would suggest Simon Bateman ( Nametab engineering 01527 60395) he specialises in Viliers engine rebuilds and has all the necessary tooling in house to rebuild cranks, rebores etc, This will be a proffessional job, it just depends on your definition of "reasonable cost", if you are prepared to strip the crankcases off the rest of the engine and suply it to him, he can do the crank /bearings/seals,big end small ends as an assembly back in the crankcases ,if you are capable of putting the rest back together ? Or could do a complete rebuild at greater cost .
