Switch removal

Post  piston 197 on Thu Oct 25, 2018 6:19 pm

Take the centre screw out of the knob, and remove the knob, cup you hand under the switch inside the shell and press the centre spindle/rotor out into your hand, being careful to not lose the roller cam and spring as it pops out.
There should be a metal wire circlip holding the switch into the shell, invariably this will be missing? there is also a rubber sealing ring between the switch and shell, this will have turned into a rubber sticky mess and is probably gluing the switch in.
Wrap a small socket which fits inside of the brass terminal posts in cloth and place it into the centre of the underside of the switch where you have pressed the centre rotor out, and tap the socket with a small hammer to get the switch out of the shell

Do not attempt to put a screwdriver under the edge of the switch to remove it as you will just shatter the switch !!

when you have broken it, swuitches are available from Villiers Services in both 3 position O.P.H
and 4 position O P H DIRECT
