Stuart I dont know what your earth it was before but if you have gone the other way your amp meter will work backwards. If you put your lights in does it show a charge or a discharge?

If you went Neg earth it gives you the chance to use LED bright bulbs as those are mostly Pos live.

Pity you wasant closer to me I would give you a hand.

Peter

Wiring fault on a system that costs £354 inc vat Shocked  They are made by Electrex World a company not known for good customer service and products. Their systems for Villiers 9E 32A etc have been known to give problems in the lighting department.
Its Steve GOLLINGS by the way.

electronic ignition system sorted all ok be warned ammeter does not work when 12 volts and negative earth are used. road tested improved acceleration no top end improvement. need to use higher than 10 amp fuse. Electrex do not supply wiring diagram. Stuart Elkes May the spark be with you

Hi Stuart
Many thanks I will let you know how I get on in due course

On another question have you ever come across an original Trials 92 silencer or 94 Scrambler one? And if so do they use the holed pipe system welded to the downpipe used on the Cruisers etc?

Regards

I have fitted new but from Armours and it's as you say the holed baffle welded to the trials frontpipe. The silencer is standard as the falcon 87 but is crushed to go inside the damper and frame.

Hi Ken,
Thanks Ken that's as the Trials 83 & 85 but what I want to do is as the Trials 92 originals which are much shorter with a curved stumpy tailpipe as
shown on Mick Ransom's bike on page 29 & 176 in Arthurs Book

Ken,
Peter is asking about the model 92 with the Villiers 32A engine, hockey stick exhaust and short silencer, it is the AMC engined ones that use the cigar shaped roadbike silencer with and extra flat to clear the shock absorber.
Peter ,
bottom line is i do not know if the 92 used a baffle pipe, but as the silencer is butted up against the exhaust without a clamp and the silencer appears to be a shortened version of the Falcon 74 silencer with a longer tail pipe it does need to be pulled down against the diameter of the pipe, this leads to the conclusion it has to be tightened from the end, therefore a baffle tube is almost certainly inside ?

I would expect the starmaker scrambler to have no baffle pipe whatsoever and to be a megaphone type exhaust relying on the reverse taper to provide back pressure ?

I cannot understand why the ammeter is not working, if its in the main battery lead then it should show a discharge when lights are on and the corresponding charge with engine running, irrespective of whether the system is 12volts, negative or positive earth. It would just need reverse wiring if discharge shows a charge.

It's possible the amp meter feed is on the wrong side so it's bypassing the meter.
