2 7/8" tank badges

Post  FBKev on Tue Oct 09, 2018 6:44 pm

As one of my other bikes is a 1959 James Captain (10E engine) Does anyone here know what other James models used the 2 7/8" red/gold badges as classic transfers may get some made up if numbers are high enough.
Tried to insert image but the protocol appears to have changed?

That is odd because they use the same diamond shaped M15 tank on the FB 95 and that uses 2 7/8" badges which have different screw hole centres to the small badges, it is difficult to imagine why AMC would make the same tank with 2 different badge fittings for the James and FB, but if they did i stand corrected ?
I have definitely see the James M15 with Large badges , although the earlier Cadet L15A, L15 definitely had the small ones.

Googling pictures of the M15 (and M16) i can definitely see them with the larger badges ?? same as the Sports superswift ??

Hi John, just looked on the James site and it show blue/silver badge with 2-1/16"hole centres in the spec . I can't check on the bike because it 17miles away at my sons while I do his bike but when it was next to my 96 I seem to remember them being smaller, could be old age.
Have a look on simplywizard.co.uk
James information page

Hi, was at my sons today so I checked and they are 2-3/8".

Did you have a look at simplywizard.co.uk easy to access the specifications by going to cc and model, some of it is useful for equivalent FBs.
