Cruiser 39 Electrical and other things
It's very early days but does anyone know where the regulator if fitted on the Cruiser 39?
I have a diagram of sorts but all it shows is some windings built into the headlamp switch. I am sure I read somewhere there is an adjustable regulator.
Anyone got a key that goes into the light and I think ignition switch that they could draw round for me so I can copy it please?
Should the carburettor have an intake or is it just a bare carb? Looks Villiers but what version please?
How does the inbuilt throttle twist grip come apart?
Thanks Ken

Charge control
From JH Goddards book i have sent you an Email Ken which explains why there is no regulator other than the windings on the back of the switch.
The carburettor on your 39 should be the middleweight 2 lever type one cable pulls the slide for throttle, the other raises or lowers the needle for weak/rich mixture ( choke)

ignition key
Ken anyone selling spares for LE Velocette should be able to supply a key, try Grove velocette specialists or the LE Velo club , it is just basically a flat spade with two protrusions ( one size fits all) but different to the Lucas one, make sure you ask for a Miller key

Not that one
No definitely not that one that is a Lucas PRS8 switch, the only FB to fit this was the Light Cruiser 79, neither Key nor switch will be any use to Ken, but thanks for trying !

Re: Cruiser 39 Electrical and other things
Out of interest I googled (other search engines are available) the part number and Miller key because I now want to see what one looked like. And came across the same comment on the Vincent/HRD owners forum, "want a miller key but they will not sell me one. I have to pay & join the Velocette owners club & then pay extra to join the LE subgroup" before I can get a key.
So he is looking for a velo club member or a pattern to copy.
Seems a very short sighted view as 1. could generate more income from sales. 2. get more people interested in the club by being helpful.

miller key
Is this the key that "locks" the plastic turn button, when the key is inserted?
I think Douglas Dragonflys used the same Miller switch.

My friend is a club member, I have asked them if they supply the key only. Failing that my friend has one I can draw for you.

I've got the gen off my mate with the LE Velocette about the ignition key. Sorry the pic isn't very clear but hopefully you can read it.
I am unable to post the picture on here, even after following the instructions for using tinypic. The only way I can think of getting round it is to post them on my facebook page ( brian hodgson) where you should be able to view it. Hope it works.

Hi Ken, I'm the one with the pic of me winning a bike race in my youth, from Sunderland. I posted the picture my mate sent me of the key and its dimensions. He added that the two "prongs" at the base of the key are just to stop it falling out as you ride, they don't affect the working of the key.
