Rear sprocket - 4T Cruiser 89.
I seem to hit problem after problem just as I approach the completion of my Cruiser 89.
Can anyone else with a standard 4T Cruiser 89 confirm that the rear sprocket is still 52 teeth as the 2T version was? There’s no FB documentation for the 4T so I assumed it is. My bike has a 55 tooth sprocket fitted so the new standard 122 roller chain I’ve got doesn’t fit. I’ve ordered a new sprocket but it occurred to me that 55 tooth might be standard on the 4T. I doubt it is but thought it wise to check.
Steve.

Thanks John. I’ll have it. I’ll send you a cheque rather than PayPal as it’s payable to the club.

Steve,
The 1964 FB catalogue in the specification section quotes 52 teeth for both Cruiser 89 and Sports Twin 91. By this time the 4T engine was the standard fitting.
However, it is clear that by this time the quality of FB/James publications had deteriorated as the end of production loomed, so accuracy cannot be guaranteed.
If anyone has or knows of an addendum to the 2T engine Cruiser 89 user manual to include 4T details, perhaps they would let us know since I, like Steve, have never seen any such information that might have been issued with the last Villiers Twin Francis Barnett's.
When I had finished restoring my 4T engine Cruiser 89 I did find it undergeared. Since the 4T engine provides at least 2 1/2 more bhp than the 2T engine, I changed the gearbox output sprocket from the standard 18 tooth to 19 to lower the engine speed.
