Scott, what about straightening it, or is it too far gone? I would certainly give it a go before consigning it to the trash bin. Can I help in any way?
Mike.

Itís only minimally bent but itís enough to tip the bike over when on the stand . I have attempted to bend it back using brute force with hammer but no luck . Would you say using a blow torch and a hammer is likely to break it ? Cheers for replying mike

bent centre stand

Post  mike Sayer on Sat Jul 28, 2018 11:31 am

Hi Scott, in my experience, using brute force is rarely successful. I would suggest the use of heat around the distorted area will make it much easier to return the stand to its proper shape, (providing you know what the proper shape is!) I would discard the hammer & work out a strategy for correcting the distortion before wading in indiscriminatingly. However, if a straight stand for your bike is available, then perhaps you should snaffle it up tout suite. Don`t dispose of the bent one as I am pretty sure it will be repairable & could get another FBOC member out of trouble.
Regards, Mike.
