Falcon 67 Footpegs
Hi Gents,
Could someone possibly post me a photo of the Falcon model 67 foot pegs (on or off the bike doesn't matter). I have a strong suspicion the ones on my bike are not original and have been made out of a bit of flat bar bent in someone's garage. If they are not right I would like to replace!
Cheers

Re: Falcon 67 Footpegs
Gents,
I managed to track down a service manual on line which shows the pegs and as the attached photos show I think they are factory. One can only describe that as “all function and no form”. Definitely no Italian design team involved in these.
Cheers

looking on the net and this image, it looks like the rubbers are standard AMC round ones, with the 14mm hole, about £9 off eBay. here's what my 1955 spares list shows.
If they are anything like the James of the same period, the bar is tapered at the end and the hanger is also tapered. It's just friction & the tightness of the nut that keeps them in place. On the James there are two threaded holes in the bar, this stops the bar from rotating. I don't know how FBs worked.

footrests
Yes original items, these tend to wear badly and eventually the hex hole becomes round, i cut the base off the later Falcon cast footrest with the bi-hex location and weld them to the inside of the existing footrests, the spacers then need to be shortened by about 1/2" to accomodate this mod

FOOTRESTS
Hi Brent
Just one further thing,
and it may just be that you've done a quick assembly before final build.
Looking at the picture, your footrest bar seems to be hanging below the bottom loop of the frame from the side plates with a bolt through the cast tube on the frame. I was just down checking and on both on my 58 and 67 the footrest bar goes through the cast tube on the frame. The two side plates on the bar then run across for additional fixing by the lower engine mounting bolt if that makes sense .
This would give the footrest bar better support.
Best wishes
Keith

footrest rubbers
I believe Jeff hunter rubber in solihull make new rubbers, but be warned they are not great, are likely to split when fitted and the ribbing will quickly wear off if used as they should be, OK ( just ) for show , but not great for use
