front wheel thread falcon 81

Post  Dickey0-1 on Mon Jun 18, 2018 9:05 pm

hello,
I have a 1958 falcon 81, the front wheel nuts have been damaged so was looking into getting some new ones made up as I cant seam to find them anywhere. Does anyone know what thread is used, I know its 26 threads per inch and the bolt diameter is 9/16 (well pretty sure) but have no idea as to the thread. I think its between BSB British standard brass, and BSC British standard cycle.
Thanks in advance
Richard

BSCy thread

It is the British Standard Cycle thread, that superseded the CEI standard. it has an angle of 60 just like metric threads and was designed for bicycles and later on motorcycles. It is a fine thread at 26TPI, great for holding wobbly bits of metal together, not good for use in aluminium a sin crankcases or cylinder head bolts/studs aka Villiers 9E.
All taps & dies available in carbon & HSS from Tracey tools. Carbon is fine for cleaning threads. If you have a Villiers engine, then you will also find BSW and BA. It's a mindfield
