Hi All very silly question but do you have to have the engine running to have the lights and horn working on a cruiser 80 or will they work just of the battery.

Cheers Kevin..

The Wipac electrical system as used on the Cruiser 80 and Falcon 87 (and many other lightweight bikes of this time) powers the lighting and ignition system from the battery, which is kept charged by the AC alternator output which is then rectified to DC.

As long as the battery is charged, the engine does not have to be running to power up the system.
