Falcon 54, Bearings for headstock and Fork springs

Falcon 54, Bearings for headstock and Fork springs

Post  blackjak on Wed May 16, 2018 6:55 am

Can some one please advise me of the number and size of ball bearings (top and bottom) required for the headstock yoke for a Falcon 54. Also are there any tricks to lengthen one of the springs in the forks without having to buy new ones? I have 10mm difference in length. Neither springs are broken so I am thinking it is from the bike having been laying around for 30 odd years.

cheers

J H Goddards book says 19 off 1/4" balls top and bottom ?

i do not think 10mm difference will matter much

Thanks John. Obviously I did not read my Goddards book thoroughly enough. As for the forks when I reassembled them there was a definite lean to the side. I will change the springs around and see if that makes any difference.

Hi
I had a similar problem and found that where the print turns and locks into the bottom of the fork
There's a sort is worm and for the spring to screen into check there ? I had to take apart fix and reweld !!
