wheel bearing service/ replacement falcon model 58 1953
Hi Gents
Whilst my rear wheel bearing has no play, it is slightly "notchy" when turning. I expect a thorough clean and repacking with grease would suffice but this seems quite a task with the seal positioning and the bearing location inside the hub.
Has anyone attempted to service them ? or are the bearings and seals readily avaliable and I shouldnt faff about and just fit new ones (If yes, is this an easy job).
Thanks in advance for your advice on this
Cheers Ed

Rear wheel bearing
If you have the cup and cone ( bicycle type) bearings sourcing replacements will not be easy, if it is the late type SeriesII with roller bearings not a problem

Hi fellas thanks for your advice. I seem to have standard bearings on the rear but cup and cone on the front so will make sure bthey are not overtightened.
I see that the roller bearings are simple to source but what about the little felt dust washer... is this also readily avaliable ?
Cheers Ed

Rear bearing
Use bearings with the designation 2RS after the number, these are pre-packed with grease and have rubber seals to prevent loss, you will not need the felt seals then, or can refit your old ones if you wish, but they will be doing nowt !
