Think you will find the pre-fix on the frame No is ACT ( not AOT?) this will make it a 1959 model 83 trials which should have a 25C AMC 250cc engine

I wonder if there was a typo in some of the literature

AOT/ACT

Post  piston 197 on Wed Apr 25, 2018 12:20 pm

Guess someone picked up the wrong stamp ? certainly looks to be an "O" although it is a little elongated like a "C" would be
ACT was Model 83 Trials and ACS was the model 82 scrambler
AOT is not an official sequence used by FB
A = 1959 ( august 1958 to July 1959)
C = 250cc
T = Trials ( or S scrambles)
The road bike Cruiser 250cc AMC was just AC

I see what you mean about the elongated C. Well if it looks like a duck and acts like one...
Thanks for nailing the model and year for me.

Looks like they let the stamp bounce when they did the A and then turned the stamp through 180 when doing the C as there seem to be serifs on the mark, which an O wouldn't have, but a C might?
