Inspection on bike???

Post  Martinrhyl on Sat Apr 07, 2018 8:37 am

I have a francis barnett light cruiser 79 1958
I send my docs, pics ect to register the bike to a guy on here to confim make ect and then a could send all documents to dvla to get a plate for my bike woth a 55 pound postal order.

I got a letter back saying ring this number for an inspection guy to come around to check bike before they can register it ect.

What do they look for when they come as my bike needs the lights messing but looks complete and restored just needs tweeking to get back on road so will they say its ok or not .

Inspection

Post  kerabo on Sat Apr 07, 2018 9:42 am

It's all pretty straight forward. They have given some garages the authorisation to inspect on behalf of the DVLA. Mine was from Ipswich and covered Lincs. It's not an mot. All they want is to make sure it's what you said and will check frame and engine numbers and take some pictures. About 30 min all in.
The phone call is just to agree a time for it.

Inspection

All I can say is with me he only looked.
Never started it or touched any controls.
Just make sure the numbers are easy to see and offer him a cuppa

Vehicle inspection

Post  piston 197 on Sat Apr 07, 2018 2:47 pm

The inspection side is handled by a third party ( SGS) on behalf of the DVLA, not all vehicles are checked, they just need to see the frame No and engine No and take photos, shpould take no more than 15 minutes and they will be on to the next one, they regularly do 20/30 vehicles of all kinds in a day
