rear light mounting

Post  alan67 on Fri Apr 06, 2018 4:30 pm

Hi guys I need some help in finding the rear light mounting for my falcon 67 , I understand the original light fitting was triangular and made from bakerlite, then Francis Barnett made a mild steel more rounded fitting to take the lucas rear light , it's the later i'm after , this fitting was used on one or two different models there is a nice picture of the fitting on a falcon 70 page 134 in Arthur Gent's book The Complete Story, I would think that these parts are getting a bit hard to find now ,so if any one could supply a accurate wrap around paper template i would be very grateful and off cause would cover any costs etc, Thanks Alan

rear light

Hi Alan

Nearly missed this request as I latched on to your 8E crankcase dilemma.
You're obviously getting on fairly well with your Falcon 67. I made a shroud in metal similar to the original bakelite one and have fitted in a small semi circular Wipac light.
One of the stalwarts of the club very kindly sent me a pattern to allow me to make one of the larger shrouds like you are looking for. I will go and dig it out and email it to you. It's pretty easy to make and accepts the larger Lucas 529 light which allows you to have a brake light as well which the 67 never had. To complete it to a T you need a strip of rubber edging.

Best wishes
Keith
