1951 Falcon 55 kick start set up.

Hi, could anyone please help me to set up the kick start spring on my Falcon with Villiers 6E engine and three speed gearbox. I cannot seem to get the tension correct; does anyone have any details/drawings to show what to do? Thanks in advance.

K start spring

If your K/start spring is ok there is no dark art ? there are several location holes in the gearbox casing to anchor one end of the spring on, put the spring in the cover with the one end sticking out though the hole in it, rotate the kickstart shaft full clockwise, place the cover with spring inside over the shaft and locate other end of spring into your selected hole in the case. hook a bit of wire or string around the end of the spring that protrudes from the cover and pull this clockwise until the spring tag is vertical, holding it in this position place the kick start on the shaft making sure the spring end locates in the hole in the kickstart, if there is insufficient select a hole further anti clockwise in the case to locate the spring.
