Hi all.
Does anyone have a front wheel spacer for a 1960 cruiser part number 001335.

Cheers Kevin.

Kevin, I don`t have one, but if you or anyone else can give me the dimensions, I`ll happily make you one (no charge). It would be in unplated mild steel however.
Incidentally, I believe the same spacer is used on the REAR HUB of the Falcon 87, inside the brake drum.
Regards, Mike Sayer.

Hi Peter
Thanks but what I really need to know is the internal diameters I believe that it has two as it is stepped.
What happened was I have just stripped my front wheel down to replace the bearings and noted that the spacers were the same size but one should be half inch and the other should be three eighths
So last guy to rebuild the wheel made a mistake. So I might strip the back wheel down and see if it has two half inch spacers on.
Cheers Kevin.

Parts No 001337 3/8ths thick 2off I on brake back plate outside the other fits up against the bearing on the opposite side

Parts No 001335 1/2" thick 1off fits against the bearing on the brake side of hub

Spacer wanted.

Post  mike Sayer on Mon Mar 26, 2018 7:39 pm

Kevin, I have an inkling that the spacer 001335 has the same O/D & I/D as the spacer 001336 & since I have one of the latter I can easily measure I/D & O/D . The spacer is hardened however & I can`t even case harden the one I can make. Would anyone know if this would be a problem?

Kevin, I have measured the spacers I have, O /D is 0.987" & I/D is 0.587" on both of them, with no step on the O/D. One of them is 0.498" long but the other is 0.716" long. I can only assume the shorter of the two is what you want, right?

Hi Mike.
The problem i have is that the two spacers that i have are both stepped but on the I/D if i get time tomorrow i will measure one of them and send you the sizes.

Cheers Kevin..

Hi Kevin,

I have rebuilt a number of F/B's and I have never come across any stepped spacers on any of them. I have also looked at all literature original F/B ones and there is nothing resembling what you describe . The only thing that I have found is the threaded sleeve with a washer type back that keeps the outer brake cover fitted to the inner brake plate!
I would be very interested to see pic of the spacer you refer to?

Hi Peter.
It has me beat to, i am going away for the weekend but will post some photos on my return.
the only thought that i have had is that, is the step there to prevent you from over tightening then spacer onto the bearings.

Cheers Kevin..

Hi all, I am about to make a 1" dia. X 1/2" long spacer for a Member, & while doing that, it will not be difficult to make a few more, of the same or different lengths. I have some 1" dia bright mild steel bar I will be using, so if any other Member is interested, PM me.
