Merlin 52 footrest distance tube and 6E exhaust

Post  blackjak on Wed Mar 07, 2018 12:57 pm

Can someone tell me the length of the footrest distance tube for a Falcon 54. I thought they were both the same size but on looking at the manual they list different numbers for them (R.H 4496 and L.H. 4635) Or am I reading it wrong and this is only for the Model 57 and 58.

Sorry to raise this question again.
I have trawled through the site and have read all the posts on the 6E exhausts where they say it is 1 1/4" however, mine like others has the finned 1 /1/2" nut. (No exhaust pipe when I picked up the bike and engine as a basket case years ago) Armours say 1 1/4" exhaust for a Model 54 and Villiers Services sell a 1 1/2" exhaust nut which they say is for a 6E engine. Can you get a 1 1/2" pipe for a Model 54 or is there an exhaust nut with a smaller diameter opening (1 1/4') to fit the 6E. If I have a 1 1/2" exhaust made up how will this affect the 6E engine. I know later models have the 1 1/2" exhaust.

cheers
Alan

Exhaust nut

The 6E does not have the finned nut with the 1 1/2 hole, it used a castellated nut with slots in it to be done up with a "C" spanner, both nuts will fit the cylinder stub threads , but obviously the 1 1/2" one will not retain the 1 1/4" exhaust
