AMC gearbox oil level screw

Perhaps JH can advise whether Norton and AJS/Matchless lightweights used a similar item, since this would enable you to widen your search. Sandy

bolt 1057

Post  Bigjim on Sun Feb 04, 2018 5:14 pm

Just looked up Russel motors & AMC classic lists, no joy. From the spares list I have, it looks like a standard part. Part no 041057, uses similar coding to other AMC parts. Maybe this is a plated version of a normal small set screw, or it is round headed screw with a slot. I know from other AMC parts the pretty cad or Chrome plated bolts have differing numbers to the plain bolts. The same size just plated or even domed, but with a special number. If someone has one to measure it won't take anyone much to make one.

Cheers Bigjim.
I have found a screw that fits i have added a fibre washer to make it oil tight and it seams to be doing the trick and does not look out of place.
Thank you for you reply.
Kevin.
