3 Speed gearbox,

Post  woodenhead on Sun Mar 19, 2017 12:01 pm

Hi
I have done an absolutely stupid thing because my central vision is going I have difficulty seeing close up, so what have I done? when checking oil level and adding some oil I mistook the filler hole for the dipstick hole and it disappeared down the hole.
I tried a magnet but could not find it. It years since I had a gearbox apart and I cannot remember if you can just take the end plate off or will I need to dismantle the whole gearbox.

Yes leave the engine in the bike, take off K/start. and G/change, slacken off clutch adjuster arm, remove outer cover, slack off large domed nut to slacken cam indent plunger pressure, then take the inner case off.
Simple operation, did it for a friend who was struggling the other day and had not re-located the gear selector over the selector ball in less than 10 minutes the whole thing from taking apart to re-fitting
