Armours exhaust for FB Powerbike 56

Post  FB vincent on Sat Dec 10, 2016 9:45 am

I recently purchased an exhaust system for my brother's 2F engined Powerbike 56. The design was specified by FB expert Des Heckle, but neither Armours or Des can provide the clamp and cup for the pipe to silencer seal. Can anyone either provide these items, suggest a source or let me know how they have overcome this problem? PM me if you can help and I will let you know my email address. Sandy Ross

Tiny pipe should be 1 1/8" for the Model 56

Powerbike exhaust system

Peter,

The o.d. of the original (non detachable silencer) system was 1 1/16", as measured from two 1951 pipes. The Armours replacement pipe is approx 1/32" greater in diameter than this. It is possible that the later detachable silencer pattern used a larger diameter, as quoted by JH..

Interestingly New Hudson used pipes of 1 3/16" o.d.

Any help appreciated!

Sandy

Exhaust

It's ok Sandy my iPad had remembered your email
Pictures on the way.

The front pipe is 1.127" whatever that translates to.. The exhaust clamp is a normal twin section clamp with a bolt through it. The seal is the tricky bit. It's a concave washer about 3/8" deep with a seal inside held in place by the clamp. The silencer is squeezed up to that seal by a through stud right through the middle of the silencer.

1.125 is I and one eighth, 1.25 is 1 and a quarter, surely?

Yes you are correct, was up at 4am this morning, must get thinking and typing in sync !
Incidentally on Armours exhaust pipe listings product No ARMFB56 ( powerbike model 56) it states the pipe to be 1 1/8" ?? now they could be wrong ??
