25T gearbox rebuild

Post  BarnettBilly on Thu Oct 13, 2016 6:39 am

Hello all,

Having experienced a slipping first gear and then being unable to select first gear, I have stripped the gearbox and found the first gear on the mainshaft has lost two gear teeth.
I have reassembled the gearbox with a donor gear but i'm not certain on the correct reassembly. I have a service book which gives instructions, but to me they are a little ambiguous. Are there any full proof tips that someone could pass on please, for instance, I presume the selector fork cams sit on the top recess on the cam plate on reassembly?
If I get it wrong then there's a lot to strip down again!
Regards
Christian

I may be wrong but I think member Kerabo has experience with AMC gearboxes and may have a guide he can share with you. Suggest you send him a PM.
