Is it possible to buy new replacement headlight bowl teardrops or do I have to make them ?

Falcon 87 Headlight

Post  peter@dunfordconstruction on Mon Jul 25, 2016 9:26 am

Please could anyone send me a photo picture of the instrument top of the Falcon 87 1961 Headlight so I can reproduce the layout on my restoration?

red tear drops

using red Perspex might be a way forward. It cuts, files & polishes very easily.

Bit more detail

Post  piston 197 on Mon Jul 25, 2016 4:21 pm

I am sure it cuts and files easily, but the originals have WIPAC logo on them, and that will be a right sod to reproduce ! I have never seen them other than in a headlight and they are not listed as a separate item in the Wipac lighting catalogue, but no doubt there were bins full of them in the Wipac factory ? after positioning in the shell they are melted from below to fit, I am sure with the application of a soldering iron from below they can be removed, best to look for an old shell that still has them in place ?

I know its not the same but you can get very small warning lights that will fit the holes.

wipac parts wiring diagram

Post  Bigjim on Mon Jul 25, 2016 6:52 pm

According to my Wipac service sheets, the Falcon 87 uses the S0904 body headlamp.  As John says they came with the red bits as standard, not as spare  parts.

I've bought some red acrylic rod to have a go at fashioning some tear drops from. I'll keep you posted how it goes.
