Long shot plea for help

Post  Maurice on Wed Apr 06, 2016 12:59 pm

I am restoring a 1935 Cruiser. Unfortunately the casting that holds the clutch lever is broken. My local engineering shop, that has never previously failed me, was unable to repair it.
Does anyone have one (some hope!) or can anyone suggest how to repair it, given that it appears not to be weldable?
The picture shows the broken item and one from a 1939 gearbox which unfortunately in cranked and not the same.

I have had this problem before, obviously doing something wrong.

If you right click the picture and then select "Open in a new tab" all will be revealed

Clutch casting

That looks a bit like the later Villiers clutch pivots.
If you got a block of alloy and a saw and a file and drill you could make that in a hour or so.
