Wipac Alternator problem

Post  tbird on Mon Nov 23, 2015 1:18 pm

Hi All
I am rebuilding (for a friend) a Royal Enfield Crusader Continental GT.
It has a Wipac alternator with 3 wires :- White, Green and Orange.
The new Harness for the GT has 3 wires :- White/Green, Green/Black and Green/Yellow.
My problem is which Wipac wires go to which Harness wires. ????

Can anyone tell me Please.???

The Conti GT should have a Lucas RM19 alternator and not a wipac one ! maybe this is why the wires are different colours ? I do not doubt a wipac set up may be able to be fitted to a RE where a Lucas should be, but you are going to have to look at both a wipac wiring diagram ( AMC,matchless,FB or similar) and a lucas ( royal Enfield) one to see which wires to connect to what.
Or you could just get the correct item and join up the matching colours ?
