Cruiser 89 clutch cable run

Cruiser 89 clutch cable run

Post  OldRocker on Fri Aug 28, 2015 5:41 pm

I'd be grateful for words of wisdom on the clutch cable run on my '62 Cruiser 89. I've taken it under the tank and down the offside of the chainguard and across but it is close to the chain and is pretty stiff. Plenty of oil down it. Think I must be getting daft in my old age !

Cable run

Post  MoscowFlyer on Fri Aug 28, 2015 10:02 pm

Hi, you send the cable forward under the engine, then up through the front frame section coming out through a hole on the nearside next to the headstock, then up to the handlebar lever. Sometimes there is a hole in the top yoke of the forks for the cable to pass through. Mike

I was miles out ! Many thanks Moscow Flyer - I shall re-route and with luck may get the Cruiser back on the road this year. Only the charging to sort out...
