cruiser 80/89 stand

Does anyone have a picture or drawing of a sidestand for an '89. Mine's an '80 with a 2T fitted, are the frames the same? (The sidestand i fitted with the 25t amc fouls on the exhaust.) Are any main stands available?

stands 80 v 89

Post  piston 197 on Mon Feb 02, 2015 7:12 pm

on the model 89 twin they did away with the double lift nightmare and went for a conventional "H" section stand, the 89 frame had 2 extra brackets on the side rails to take this stand, These can be added to the 80 frame by welding , or swapping the side rails ( I may have a pair not sure) The spring mechanism is side mounted on the stand itself, The stand consists of 2 cast legs and a welded tube between , the fulmar uses the same stand , but the central tube is a different length , while the side legs are the same casting. Well worth the change as the cruiser 80 stand is a wobbly affair as soon as any wear takes place.

Side Stand

Post  MoscowFlyer on Mon Feb 02, 2015 7:43 pm

Hi, here is a picture of a side stand fitted to a Cruiser 68, it is from an instruction book, and the photo is of one I have which I hope to use on my next restoration, hope this helps. Mike

This one won't foul a 25T AMC exhaust.
