cable compatability

Post  piston 197 on Sat Jan 31, 2015 8:07 am

The cable free lengths and adjusters and nipples are the same , but the cruiser 80 cable is 8" longer overall, so it will work o.k. ,but you may have to be creative with the routing to lose the extra 8 inches, or it could even be shortened by removing one nipple , shortening the inner and outer and re-soldering the nipple back on ?

Ebay item 201276751876 appears to be the correct item. FB 87 clutch cables frequently appear on ebay, this one has the FB green outer. It is always a good idea to thoroughly lubricate the cable before fitting.

Sandy (nothing to do with the vendor).

Can confirm above post TG742 is the Romac coding for the Falcon 87 1960/66 ( all years of manufacture) and the "G" in the number coding denotes green cable outer

Cable

Post  kevb on Sat Jan 31, 2015 9:23 am

I have used the universal cables advertised on eBay many times. They come with open ends and a selection of nipples. Inner and outer can be cut to required length and end soldered to suit. They are very good.

FB cables

J.J. Cables (01926-651470) will make up cables using an old one as a pattern, but they no longer have the correct FB green outer sheathing in stock.
