I was quite surprised to see this and even more surprised that there's no mention on this forum yet; or did I miss it?

Francis Barnett chinese clone

Post  piston 197 on Fri Jun 13, 2014 4:24 pm

Definitely needs a 21 inch wheel in the front and a better routing of the exhaust, other wise not a bad effort, and nice to see a reasonable attempt at the colour scheme.
I would not buy one personally, but I am sure others will, best of luck to them.

If I was a 17yr old and looking for my first bike I would be interested ,it as the knee pads on tank for finishing touch and a classic look, does any one know what engine it has.Having the Francis Barnett name to it may bring in younger people into older bikes who knows,a thumbs up from me.

From the company (with which I have no connection) website..."We began a relationship with The Herald Motorcycle Company with their approval to use the ‘Classic’ model as a base for our motorcycle. Why did we choose to use the HMC Classic? Aside from the fantastic reviews and roadtests we had read about on the HMC Classic we also did our own research, the HMC uses a version of the bullet proof Suzuki GN 125 made by a Suzuki partner which is in itself a perfect starting point, combined with spoked wheels, rear drum brake, a stylish British inspired tank and a classic frame shape and seat the HMC spoke to us.We gave this puppy our own tests and could we break it? Not a chance, this motorcycle works and performs just like any modern Japanese 125cc bike."

The owner of the company was at the AGM 2 years ago on a Falcon 87 so I wouldn't be surprised if he came on the new bike this year.

price ??

Post  piston 197 on Tue Jun 17, 2014 3:53 pm

When you see the basic standard HMC classic bike is £1570 on the road from Haywards of Cambridge, it is hard to see where the additional 2 1/2K has come from ??
