Exeter Trial 2014

Here is some film of this years Exeter Trial. Simms Hill always offers a good test for the competitors, but this poor bloke taking the film found it testing too, he got hit in the face by a stone and had to be taken to hospital. Mike

trial

Just to let you know my trail was a Disaster this year.

Bike ran rich and emptied a tank full of fuel between Popham and Sparkford, 70 Miles and ran out. Removed the new filter that made it run rich and the bike ran OK again. Locked myself out of my phone so could not call my backup driver. The heavens opened and I got hand feet and some of my body soaked. First section bike just would not go forward up the steep bits so ended up pushing while feathering the clutch. Knackered by now and then as we went high it was cold and I was shivering and feeling it. Put more waterproofs on at fuel stop but left my backpack and medication in the car. 4 more sections still pushing the bike up the hills. Lost, Cold, Wet, Tired and no Phone or tabs so decided to call it at a day so made my way to Crealey Park and put the bike on the trailer.
Very disappointed. I will do another I am sure but need to have a rethink Little BSA 125 Bantams go up the hills but the FB wont. Funny as it did the last 2 trials fine.

gearing

I have supplied Ken with some trials ratios for his gearbox, all fitted and looking good, should fly up the hills now, but probably empty the tank even quicker ??

Smalker jet fitted now. Was only with a paper air filter fitted it was rich. 2 strokes don't like those type the oil and fuel that blows back from the intake blocks the filter .

fuel comsumption

The lower gearing won't help the fuel consumption either ?
