Francis Barnett Cruiser No Numbers

Post  aljen on Sun Jan 05, 2014 12:00 pm

Hi I bought a Francis Barnett 250cc cruiser yesterday no documentation and this morning I went to get engine number and frame number so I can start getting it registered but cannot find either. The engine I believe is AMC. Without any numbers does this mean I cannot get the bike back on the road and it is now only good for parts? Hope someone can help.

cruiser 80 frame number

Post  piston 197 on Sun Jan 05, 2014 1:09 pm

Fortunately the front frame tube of the cruiser 80 (which has the number stamped on it) is only a bolt in component and not difficult to change, so another front tube with a number on will get you a frame ready to register.I will send you a p.m. as I think I may have one.

Thanks John for your reply if you do have a frame number I would be interested in buying it to get me started on getting bike back on the road. Thanks Alan

Hi Alan, I don`t want to tread on JH`s toes, but if you have not yet got a front frame member, I have one stamped "DC 17030 W" which I believe denotes it is for a Cruiser 80 (white) .

front frame

Carry on Mike , I do not have one suitable, the original poster has now found frame numbers but they are not original stampings, have too many numbers and are overstamped and DVLA won't like them , so your option is the best way forward.
