Plover light switch help

Post  greetmachine on Thu Sep 12, 2013 4:25 pm

Help, please. How do you get the light switch out of the headlight shell on a plover ? I have removed the large circlip but everything still seems fixed. Whats the knack please ? I can get new pattern switches marked  OFF L H but not as fitted with the OFF between the L & H. Anyone know if they wire up the same despite the different switch positions ? Or where a replacement L OFF H switch can be sourced ?
Thanks

removing switch

1 remove knob, ( one screw in centre)
2 press centre of switch out , paying particular attention to holding sprung wheel contact so it does not fly off into the recesses of workshop
3 remove circlip holding switch in place
4 place a small socket wrapped in cloth inside the centre of switch, inside of shell
5 tap lightly with small mallet or hammer
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PRIZE THE SWITCH OUT WITH SCREW DRIVER OR BLADE, IT WILL SHATTER
It works every time for me

Plover light switch

Post  greetmachine on Thu Sep 12, 2013 11:07 pm

Hi Piston197
Thanks for your reply. Just to clarify please, first time I have done this, the switch centre I have to push down is the floating bit that the knob screw goes into ? I ask because there appears to be a brass surround in which that bit fits.
Thanks
