falcon 74 magneto wiring.

Post  Harty210 on Sun May 19, 2013 3:49 pm

Having started looking at the wiring on my 1956 falcon 74 there was no output from the magneto, i have
Taken the cover and magneto flywheel off and the wiring inside looks incomplete, also the ignition coil is oriented slightly off so the solder tab doesnt contact the ht lead end, does anyone have a diagram or advice on how the internal wiring should look and how do i rotate the coil, do i take the unit off and release it from the backplate.
Thanks dave.

Hello Dave, me again. Mag wiring is pretty spartan. One wire soldered to coil leads to points, that's it really. Coil is released by two screws into the back of each pole (four screws total). Loosen them to turn the coil. Have to have the backplate off for that though, six screws for that. Might be worth testing the coil while you're about it. I was told recently how to test, but I forgot. Villiers Services know.
Lighting coils join up to one lead exiting mag backplate to rectifier.
