CARB QUESTION

Post  bellacat1234 on Thu Jan 10, 2013 6:24 pm

On a s25 carb as fitted to a villiers 8E how far down should the internal slider be when the throttle is closed. Should it be all the way down? I am fitting a new cable to a motor not started for 30+ years and am wondering if the spring on the carb end of the cable is week or even the right one as when fitted the slider is half way up.
Thanks for any advice.
David

David it sounds like you have the wrong cable, you can make the cable right if you shorten the outer.

I'm using a universal cable which i've only connecting to the carb end. Taking up the slack the slider is only half down. Seems to me the spring in the top of the carb is not long enough to push the slider down. Anyone know the lengh of these.

spring

When the slide is bottomed out in the carb body ,the spring should be proud of the carb body top, pressure has to be applied to fit the top and screw on ring,if your spring does not protrude above the carb body when the top is removed it is too short,
