Stands for Falcon 70

Post  Maurice on Tue Mar 27, 2012 11:41 am

I have virtually completed the restoration of my Falcon 70 but am unable to take it for an MoT for lack of a centre stand or a side stand.
JH informs me that these are specific to the Falcon 70 (19" wheels).

JH also informs me that the side stand is the same as the Norton Jubilee, but the Norton Owners Club are out of stock of this item.

Can anyone help please, getting a bit desperate!

Stands for Falcon

Thanks John. I have already done that but the special spring needed has defeated me.

Stand

Post  kerabo on Tue Mar 27, 2012 6:24 pm

I think if you talk to your MOT station they will test it without a stand. They have other means of holding it in the air. I have just sat this course and feel sure there is no failure for that but will have a look again.

Well I had a look in the manual and there is nothing about a stand. The mot station cant make their own rules. If they fail it it has to be on a section in the manual. But if you tell them you have one being made I feel sure they will help you .

Centre Stand

Post  Maurice on Thu Jun 28, 2012 9:49 am

Hi Andy
A word of warning. If you want the stand for a 70 the spring arrangement was my problem. Although JH described it to me I could not fathom it until I saw one. The spring is in compression and not tension as is usually the case.
