Has anyone ever managed to remove the alloy hub centre 5" and 6" hubs. Does the hub split or is it there for keeps

hub centre

Ken,i have removed the centre alloy trim ,by destroying it,then turning down the flange (non brake side ) to convert to 1/2 width hub, obviously this has to be drilled for spoke holes after, the two halves of the full width hub are not designed to come apart, but the rivets could be drilled out and replaced after removing the centre, but why? I am having some parts sand blasted and was going to include my hubs and then get them painted but it will mess up the alloy. I thought once I read that someone removed them. Wonder how they put them on ? i shall just have to try to protect them.

Wheel Hubs

Ken
They are put together by having the brake drum side solid and the other side is a smaller dia the corrigated centre is put on the brake side then the other end with the spoke holes is pressed on.
So there are 3 pieces altogether but to try and get them apart (forget it)
I had one where the centre was loose and you can press them together and tighten it up.
Paint it as one.
