1H Ignition Coil

1H Ignition Coil

Post  Miday on Fri Sep 16, 2011 9:20 am

Hi Mikexyz / Vanmale
I am currently trying to sort a 1H that my friend has just bought and have been reading your comments re dual ignition coil. This bike does not have one of these but it does have a weak spark at the plug provided I don't use a suppressor cap. Can you please tell me what machine(s) (Japanese?) used a dual 6v ac coil which is what Villiers Services say I need although they can't supply one, or tell me where I can get one.
Thanks
Miday

1H ignition coil

Post  Mikexyz on Mon Sep 19, 2011 7:56 am

Hello,
I pick mine up from autojumbles for as little as possible!
I usually have a cheap meter with me so I can check them, I think most 'Jap' twins from the early 70's used them + they normally stamped '6 V'.
You can buy new for about 30.
I intend to rewire my generator coils for 12 volt use which will give me more options on the ignition, (magneto, coil or electronic).
Mike
