2T ignition coil upgrade

Post  dr-sidevalve on Fri May 27, 2011 11:31 pm

Im thinking of upgrading/simplifying the 2T ignition system by using a 6v twin lead coil from a honda CD175 and using just one set of points .. can I connect both of the LT flywheel magneto to coil wires together to increase the power going to the new single twin lead coil or is it best just to use one of them and remove the other ?

The coils on a 2T are 6volt ,a.c.low tension fed coils, the coils on a honda CD175are 6 volt d.c.battery fed coils so unless you have converted from flywheel mag to battery coil ignition they will not work.JH

That did cross my mind but its been running on a pair of 6v coils I pinched of a tiger 90 .... having said that my motivation for trying to improve the ignition system is that it is a pig to start when hot ! Hmmm maybe I know why now ! I think battery coil ignition is probably the way forward though .. Very Happy
